Alex has been with the Swing Devils since the very beginning, back in 1997! He manages the Swing Devils accounts and keeps the Swing Devils history alive through stories that often derail our board meetings. Alex is well versed in and teaches many styles of vintage swing dancing, including (but not limited to) Lindy Hop, Charleston, Shag, Balboa, East Coast Swing, and has a vast knowledge of solo jazz and jazz routines. Alex prefers to lead.

Colby Hillend

Jedediah has been a part of our dance community for years and brings a plethora of dance experience to our board of directors. He often teaches our Beyond the Basics lessons, and has dance and teaching experience with vintage swing and ballroom dances. Although he primarily leads, he'll follow if you ask!

Bear Simon is new to the Palouse and the Swing Devils, but not so new to dancing!  Having grown up watching all the musicals from the 1940s and 50s, she danced happily around the room to the Andrews Sisters, as well as any big band swing that made her tap her toes (something she still does regularly with or without a lead.)

Bear prefers to follow, but will probably learn to lead just for the hell of it. 

Favorite Styles: Lindy Hop and Charleston - but any excuse to dance is a good excuse!

She also forays into Contra regularly! 
Favorite songs to dance to: Begin the Beguine, Another Saturday Night, and basically another Big Band Jazz.

Michael Noel

Colby has been a part of the board of directors for a few years, and in the past has taught East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston, and West Coast Swing. Currently she manages our website and email, and spends a lot of time learning about vintage swing and curating swing playlists. Colby prefers to lead, but will follow if you ask!

Michael is our Vice President and is well versed in many dance styles. He often teaches lessons at our weekly dances, and is knowledgeable in East Coast Swing, Charleston, Lindy Hop, as well as many Ballroom and Latin styles of dance. Michael prefers to lead, but will follow if you ask!

Kyle is our Assistant Treasurer and often teaches and DJs for swing nights. Kyle teaches East Coast Swing, Charleston, Lindy Hop, and West Coast Swing. Ask him to lead you in a dance!

Mariah has been elected our President and fearless leader once again for the 2023-2024 Board of Directors. She often teaches our beginner and intermediate lessons and DJs many of our dances. Her teaching expertise includes East Coast Swing, Charleston and Lindy Hop. Many of the Swing Devils fliers you see around town are designed by her! Mariah prefers to follow.

Jessica has been our board for a few years now. Previously she has acted as Secretary, and currently teaches and DJs for the Swing Devils.

Nam is new to our board but brings plenty of experience and enthusiasm. He has taught both Lindy Hop and East Coast Swing in the past, and currently helps teach our beginner lessons. Nam is currently working on starting a vintage swing club at WSU.

This is Christy's second year on our board of directors. She helps out by setting up our dance events and assists in teaching beginner lessons. Christy brings fresh perspectives and new ideas at our board meetings! She loves to Lindy Hop, ask her to Lead or Follow!

Meet the Board Members

Every February the Swing Devils elect a new Board of Directors. These dancers are Swing Devils members who make our events happen by doing things like teach the lessons, DJ dances, help with advertising, manage the money, and take care of other logistics. Board members are happy to answer any questions and address any problems you may have at our dances, so don't be afraid to come talk to and dance with us!  Many of our board members are also instructors.
